C Major
Now that we know the note names of our frets (Learn the Notes), let's learn about scales.
Our first scale will be C Major, and we'll learn it in two different ways:
- The first is a very common way to play this on the guitar, and will be useful for learning future scales or modes.
- The second is borrowing the concept of tetra-chords from the piano, and this will be useful later on for building “chords.”
2-3-3
This way of playing a C Major scale is a very common shape.
It's very compact and simple to see & play.
2-3-3 will be useful for learning future scales or modes.
Tetra-Chords
This way of playing a C Major scale is derived from
tetra-chords on the piano.
This moves more often along the
string, than across strings as in the above 2-3-3.
